Glass
If you bought an Oberweis "Filet américain" sandwich today, check your fridge. There might be glass in it.
Oberweis has issued a food safety alert for its 200g Filet américain sandwich due to possible glass shard contamination. The affected product has a use-by date of 12 August 2026, today, and was sold in Luxembourg.
Consumers are strongly advised not to eat the sandwich. The warning was published on the official Luxembourg food safety website, which tracks all current product alerts in the country.
Filet américain is a raw beef preparation, popular in Luxembourg and Belgium, typically eaten as a spread or in a sandwich. Finding glass in one is a serious safety failure, not a quality issue.
If you have the product, return it to the point of sale or dispose of it. Do not consume it, even if it looks fine. Glass shards are not always visible in ground meat.
The alert is active as of today. No reports of injuries have been mentioned. The recall covers only the 200g sandwich with today's use-by date.
