Two Fires
The Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) responded to two separate fire incidents during the night from Thursday to Friday. The first call came at around 9:45pm, when firefighters in Bettembourg were dispatched to Rue de la Briqueterie after rubbish caught fire.[1]
Shortly after midnight, at approximately 12:35am, a hut on the Gaalgebierg in Esch-sur-Alzette caught fire. Local crews from Esch received assistance from their colleagues in Kayl and Schifflange to bring the blaze under control.[1]
No injuries were reported in either incident. Two fires, two towns, two crews, one night. The first was rubbish on a street in Bettembourg. The second was a hut on a hill in Esch. The CGDIS annual report recorded 2,665 fire reports earlier this month, of which only 40% were actual fires. Last night, both were real. The crews came, the fires went, and the night went back to being quiet.[1]
