My Neighbourhood, My Space
The project is called "Mäi Quartier, meng Plaz." My Neighbourhood, My Space. The name is in Luxembourgish. The project is in Luxembourg City. The project is about turning car-dominated areas into third spaces. The third space is what is neither home nor work. The third space is where residents meet. The third space is where residents socialise. The third space is where the cars were. The third space is what the cars become. The cars become the space. The space becomes the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood becomes the place.[1]
Four Districts
Four districts were chosen by the city council. Belair. Cents. Bonnevoie. Cessange. Four districts. Four experiments. Four transformations. The four districts were selected based on insights from prior community events known as Aperi'Tours. The Aperi'Tours are what the city organised. The city organised the tours. The tours are what informed the selection. The selection is what determined the four. The four are what the summer transforms. The summer is what the project uses. The project uses the summer to test what the neighbourhoods can become. The neighbourhoods can become greener. The neighbourhoods can become more sociable. The neighbourhoods can become what the residents want. The residents are what the project needs.[1]
Place de France
In Belair, Place de France is the focus. The kiosk is open from noon until 10pm for light meals. The food is what the kiosk offers. The kiosk is what the square offers. The square is what the neighbourhood offers. The neighbourhood is what the residents offers. The residents are what the project needs. The project needs the residents. The residents need the square. The square needs the redesign. The redesign is planned within one to two years. The redesign will prioritise greenery. The greenery is what replaces the parking spaces. The parking spaces are what the redesign removes. The removal is what the residents' association considers a priority. The priority is what the Place de France has long been on the agenda for. The agenda is what the redesign addresses. The redesign is what the summer tests. The summer is what the project uses.[1]
Not All Ideas Retained
Nico Meyrer, president of the local residents' association, expressed enthusiasm for the project. He hopes the temporary changes will become permanent. Not all of the association's ideas were retained. Something similar was tried in 2022. Serge Wilmes, now Minister for the Environment, played a key role in supporting the initiative back then. The initiative is what was tried. The tried is what is being tried again. The again is what the summer is. The summer is what the four districts are. The four districts are what the project transforms. The transforms are what the residents hope become permanent. The permanent is what the temporary is not. The temporary is what the project is. The project is what the summer is. The summer is temporary. The hope is permanent.[1]
Each District, Its Programme
Each district's programme is tailored to its community. In Bonnevoie, the organisation Interactions is offering activities in front of the church. The Cinémathèque is screening films. On the evening of 14 August, residents can look forward to a silent disco with headphones provided. In Cessange, the summer will feature an Irish dance night on 31 July. The residents' association and the city archives are offering a guided tour to explore the district's history. The history is what the tour explores. The tour is what the archive provides. The archive is what the city holds. The city holds the history. The history holds the district. The district holds the summer. The summer holds the activities. The activities hold the residents. The residents hold the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood holds the space. The space holds what the cars used to. The cars used to hold the space. The space now holds the activities. The activities now hold the residents.[1]
The Mayor
Mayor Lydie Polfer emphasised that the city collaborates with residents' associations in every neighbourhood. Such projects can only succeed if residents embrace them by actively participating and attending activities. The mayor is what the city has. The city is what the mayor leads. The mayor leads the collaboration. The collaboration is what the project needs. The project needs the residents. The residents need the space. The space needs the redesign. The redesign needs the summer. The summer needs the feedback. The feedback is what the experience provides. The experience is what the summer tests. The tests are what inform the city's plans. The plans are what the redesign follows. The redesign is what the four neighbourhoods wait for. The four neighbourhoods are what the summer transforms. The summer is what the mayor launched. The mayor is what the city elected. The city is what the neighbourhoods compose. The neighbourhoods are what the project is for. The project is for the neighbourhoods. The neighbourhoods are for the residents. The residents are for the space. The space is for the summer. The summer is for the third space. The third space is for the residents.[1]
